We caught up with the Conrail local we saw at Bucyrus. At Upper Sandusky, the line crosses CSX's ex-C&O Toledo-Columbus main. The Conrail units pull the empty hopper train, made up of predominantly EL cars, across the diamond and onto an industrial siding. The GP38's then do an engine runaround, and pull the train onto the interchange track. Watch the units prowl the grass!

  • This train was called the Carey Local. They switched stone cars out of the quarry 5-6 days per week. The crew on this day was Engineer Fred Mullner, switchman R.T. Taylor and Conductor Robert Riddle. The man shown switching is R.T. Taylor who passed away in 2004. Robert and Fred are now retired.

Thank you for the background on that train. I was wondering what customers it served.
