At the Sept 4th Town Hall meeting in Cleburne, TX (which Congressman Chet Edwards only relented to having as a result of extreme pressure by his constituents) the Congressman was asked the question which is on so many Amreicans' mind: "Why should we trust the government to run healthcare?" Even chet said he would not support such a plan!

  • Hi darsh5k,

We will be posting the entire town hall start to finish including this bit over the next few days. As many times as Congressman Edwards stated his opposition to a government takeover of healthcare it seemed appropriate, and it was the answer to her question. Again, the entire series will be uploaded over the next few days, so subscribe and you will be able to see the meeting from start to finish.

    Thanks for commenting!

  • Why don't you post the congressman's whole response?

  • The entire playlist is up and the question and full response are on sections 10 and 11

  • Medicare better than the alternative? The "alternative" is for the government to stay out of our health care. We would have simply continued to pay private pay and/or buy affordable insurance-like before Medicare. Medical providers raise their fees so the average is high enough that Medicare, paying only a percentage of the charge, still get what the charge would have been originally without Medicare. Example, doctor fee $10 before Medicare- raise fee to $20, MC approve $15 - pay 80%= $12 to MD

  • Government administered health care such as Medicare may not be run well; however, it certainly is better than the alternative.
