Can Solar and Turtles Get Along?

Can we build new solar fields while protecting deserts? Should deserts get the same attention as other natural reserves? Senator Dianne Feinstein points out that deserts aren't the same wasteland that they were once perceived to be. "There is plenty of land in the desert that is disturbed that can be used," says Feinstein. "I think all of these companies are essentially finding other places to build, where there is no real environmental challenge to things that are endangered like desert tortoises."
