the amount that you can record depends on what size SD card you buy. The battery can last 70 min non stop, and has a 180min charge

How long does this JVC Piscio camcorder last? What is the battery life of this camcorder? and also how long to fully charge it?

I think you should contact JVC and demand an exchange if that's the case.
I ordered a refurb Zi6 from ebay for $100. Mostly because I like the audio and it doesn't have a high pitch ringing like the Zi8 series.
They shouldn't release 'broken' hardware like that in my opinion.
For me, it's very audible, distracting.. it's all I pay attention to when I watch these videos.
JVC also has a firmware for that whistling noise.

Have updated to the 1.03 firmware (dated 12/4/09) - I can't say as I notice much difference. I have two videos posted recorded with the new firmware (titles indicate upgrade). Do you 'hear' the difference you talk about?

@joefurzton - this is 1080p 30 fps. Only 720p mode has the 60 fps option.

I notice there is a high pitch ringing in all of these videos

Yea, there is. Some of the noise is traffic droning from I95 (@ 1/4 mile away), but there definitely is a high pitched noise on recordings. Of Samsung HMX-U10, Kodak Zi8, and this JVC - only the Samsung didn't have it. But video was sub-par. Folks say Kodak fixed audio with firmware, but I had one of he early ones.
