This is a very long series of videos on building a dry cell from scratch. I have included a lot of info that beginners might find useful. I am trying out a gasket variation that I dubed the Mars gasket.

  • Don't like to add to the confusion...but you talk about the voltage drop off over the surface of the plate, due to the resistance of stainless, but you also talk about the need to keep the plates at even distance, so may be take both problems and get the advantage, angle the plates closer to each other the further they get from the terminal, so the drop off is compensated for.....difficult to orgainise...but may be helpful.

  • Hello my friend, live in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, can not speak English, I used Google translator to ask for this information, ask if you can send to my email all information required in this event, as well as measures and plate thickness and necessary equipment, spinning very grateful for information, send to my email amauri12009@uol.com.br, a grid hug Amaury Correa da Fonseca.

  • Oh you cutted these Plates by hand, where is your green color, hulk? :o)

The bandsawtip from gregsmetalworks is good.

    Yeah, please more gasket-explaing.

  • Hello, I have a plasma cutter, shear break and roll, hand shears, and so on. The best thing I have found for cutting sheets is my little table top Ryobe band saw from Home Depot. Under $100. I outfitted it with a metal cutting blade from the guy at Prax Air. (or any place that builds bandsaw blades). With the bandsaw I have no worpage. If I have to clean up the edge I use a file or my 4" grinder. Works perfect everytime.

Don't get me wrong about the plasma cutter, I love that too.

    Greg
