Sno-Isle Skills Center Building Reconstruction Part 1

The building that housed the Everett, Washington Sno-Isle TECH Skills Center administration offices and eight classrooms was destroyed by fire on May 5, 2009.

My video of the fire: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkUpQDIpzhU

After site clean up, building re-design, and extensive site preparation, the concrete slab foundation for the new building was laid on December 10, 2009. The building is on schedule to be completed by the end of August 2010, in time for next school year.

This video begins by showing the building site and surroundings, including a glimpse of the Boeing Building where the 747, 767, 777, and 787 airplanes are manufactured.

The video also shows a little bit of the concrete pour, and concrete leveling and finishing. The concrete pour began around 3 in the morning and lasted until after 2 in the afternoon - about 11 hours of continuous concrete being poured to form the building foundation.

It was amazing to see the concrete pump truck in action, and also the concrete finishing equipment making the top surface of the slab flat and smooth. The building process is interesting to watch from my classroom window.

I'll make more videos in the next several months as I see interesting bits of the building construction process, and as I have time to make and process the videos.

Thanks for watching.
Tom

  • The guy driving the fiinshing machine in the background looks like he is having fun. I watched them use one of those before, it's a cool machine and I think that they are steered and moved by adjusting the pitch on the paddles.
