Vermont Bike Trip from Canadian Border to Massachusetts Border.

Day 1 - Alburg, VT to North Hero to South Hero to Burlington, VT (49 miles) RAIN

Day 2 - Burlington, VT to Shelburn to Vegennes to DAR State Park. DAR is the nicest state park I've stayed in. (45 miles) RAIN

Day 3 - DAR State Park to West Bridport to Shoreham to Hortonia to Bomoseen State Park. (40 miles) VERY HOT

Day 4 - Bomoseen State Park to Wells to Pawlet to Dorset to Manchester to Lake Shafsbury State Park. (58 miles) HOT

Day 5 - Lake Shaftsbury State Park to Bennington to Pownal to Williamstown, MA. (28 miles) NICE WEATHER

Used Mountain Bikes with full knobby tires. Tried to stay on back roads as much as possible except for the 58 mile day where we spent most of the ride on Route 30 or Route 7A.

Check ou the lightning strike at 4:00.

  • good job but why'd you ride on knobbies?

  • I originally was hoping to ride more dirt roads than we did. Also, I was thinking that after riding, I'd take the panniers off and explore some trails at the campgrounds, but there really weren't any trails at them and I was too tired to ride more anyway. If I did it again, I think I'd use my cyclocross bike.

  • That looks like it was a blast!

  • It was! I especially liked the rain and oppressive heat.

  • Pretty impressive.

  • Ah - not really... I had a killer trip planned - doing all the gaps - but our trial run in before the trip convinced me I was in no shape to do them in the lousy shape I'm in, so opted for a rather flat trip.

  • ah gotcha. Yeah, a cyclocross bike would probably be ideal then. Lotsa unpaved roads still here in vt. ride safe!

  • awesome job on vid and tunes ccr great music always.

  • I couldn't agree with you more! I love it up there and go quite often.
