cute adult eastern screech owl

this is an adorable little screech owl (it's fully grown!) having its face cleaned after being hand-fed. This is from the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland, FL.

My cat brought me a live screech owl last night we called the police and he is now at a wildlife center not far from where we lived. The whole time we were waiting for the animal shelter he was letting us pet him he loved it!

@TaylorRumsey that's good that he's at a wildlife center. For future reference, i know it can be hard not to pet them, but you shouldn't. The oil in our skin ruins their feathers.

Am I to understand this owl is a wild rescue bird? Why is it allowing it self to be handled? Seems like even the types of birds usually purchased as pets that are bred in captivity are very particular about being touched extensively.
