@nmal777 I saw this version in '02 or '03, then read the book, then saw the more recent version and later I saw Children of Dune. The newer version follows the book better, but the acting was terrible, the cast unconvincing in their appearance (they had William Hurt play Duke Leto (yuck) and a bunch of no-names for just about every other role) and otherwise failed to capture the essence of what Dune is about. I think this movie got it right.

@TheKNH86 Thanks for the feedback. I haven't seen Children of Dune (is that what you mean?) My uncle who loved the first book didn't like the CoD and when I was fiddling around for pictures of the Guild Navigators (some of the most interesting figures to me in both book/film) I found a picture of Edric that I was disappointed in.
I'll admit that I saw the film before I read the novel, but I really liked the costume and model designs particular to the film.

@nmal777 Probably the better version, in all honesty, in spite of not following the book as close as the later version.
This was a timely message for me! Synchronicity. Thanks brother.

One of the best books/movies of all time. That speech was particularly great. :D
