there is a station broadcasting at 600 AM any other suggestions

thanks, it worked! $5 for a cheap AM radio and $1.40 for the RF choke and 30 min later I found the cut in my wire. Saved me between $60 to $130 for a break finder!

Havahart Wireless makes a wireless dog fence that lets you know how far away your dog is…that is pretty similar. No wires to mess with!

this was actually recorded with a broken wire. if you plug an RF choke into the control box for the fence you can detect the line and find breaks using the radio (see the instructables site - search 'invisible dog fence')
