The Glasgow Wave climate change demonstrators after marching along Paisley Road West turn up northwards towards the River Clyde. Music, chanting and drums can be heard and the colourful crowd can be seen from a distance as it is a very long demo, both in terms of numbers and in length of route and duration of march. Many different organisations are represented at this march, whether political parties or campaigning groups, whether from primarily green enviromental organisations, church bodies or other entities. Many individuals and families concerned about the environment attended the march, some playing drums and other instruments, many bringing their bikes and a few brought their pet dogs too, one with a poster on its back. The Wave climate change demos took place in several cities in and outside Britain. There was another large one in London. The marchers hope to influence those making the decisions at the COP15 Copenhagen climate change summit to make a commitment to really reducing the carbon emissions and other causes of environmental destruction. Global warming is causing glaciers to melt at an alarming rate. Pollution from big business is poisoning the water, air, soil, killing off many animal and plant species and affecting people's health. The drive for profit is damaging traditional farming forcing people to grow cash crops, practise mono-culture, use chemicals. The natural resources of developing countries in particular are abused for the over-consumption in the more affluent countries. Apart from the direct consequences of such practices causing deforestation, soil erosion, pollution and depriving local people of their own natural resources, the climate change produced by the polluting profiteers has repercussions throughout the world as we have seen with the massive floods in Pakistan. Ultimately everyone including people in the richer countries will suffer from global warming and are already suffering from pollution. The oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will have big repercussions for a long time to come. Noone knows yet the full extent of the health consequences to come, but people will probably be eating polluted seafood for a long time, just as people are currently eating GM crops and food polluted by farming and industrial chemicals. Nowadays there are so many allergies, food intolerances and unexplained fatigue and chronic illnesses which didn't used to exist that can only be explained by environmental toxins and pathogens created by chemicals, industrial and nuclear waste. This in addition to the major epidemics of water-borne diseases caused by flooding or earthquakes. This video is the 3rd of 5 parts.
