The Closing credits for the short-lived though well remembered 1950s sitcom "Date with the Angels", whicb starred a young Betty White. These closing credits also happen to be a commercial for Plymouth cars.
The sad part is that Plymouth didn't really like the sit-com concept (low ratings) and after 13 episodes, Betty White appeared in a variety show--also sponsored by Plymouth--that didn't fare any better than the sit-com... BTW, Burt Mustin was Gus the Fireman on "Leave it to Beaver," also filming in this same time frame.... Funny out of everything in this clip, only Betty White remains, and she's a bigger star than ever!
..and hey, some well known names in the "also" appearing list -- including Miss Jane from the Beverly Hillbillies -- the old man who used to be on Carson from time to time -- and who can forget Richard Deacon from the Dick Van Dyke Show
This was from the series' only Christmas episode, "Santa's Helper" [12/13/57]. The sponsor insisted on a scene of "Vicki" and "Gus" riding in their new Plymouth during the closing credits. Announcer Tom Kennedy also reminded viewers at the end about Plymouth's other series on ABC, "LAWRENCE WELK'S TOP TUNES AND NEW TALENT" {Mondays, 9:30pm(et)}
Produced by the same man who later did Family Affair and My 3 Sons,BTW!!!
