    Ir've tried it myself one time (as a wall mount) and it didn't work BECAUSE IT CAN'T BE A SILICONE CASE IT MUST HAVE A PLASTIC BACK OTHERWISE THE VELCRO DON'T STICK ON IT!!

    a solid $5 hack. i flipped the velcro to the opposite side of the bracket than what you did. this keeps the iPhone screen away from any of the mounting hardware and gives you enough room to accommodate a wing nut. i used a 1/4" #20 wing nut to secure the mounting stud. much easier to get on and off without tools if you don't have a dedicated mount. having a tough time getting good adhesion of the velcro tape to the silicone iPhone case. might need to use some super glue or plastic epoxy.
