Spain's prime minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, delayed his holiday plans as the risk premium rose on the country's debt.

Since the recession and the collapse of Spain's property bubble, tens of thousands of people have been turfed out of their homes, after they were unable to make repayments.

Al Jazeera's Sonia Gallego reports from Madrid.
