Princeton Valley Cyclocross Race

With the proceeds from the first annual Princeton Valley Cyclocross Race, the Overdrive Cycling Club will match the generous $1000 gift from Brian Carpenter to donate $2000 to the Feed My People Food Bank. Over 40 racers braved temperatures in the 30's to compete in 30, 45 and 60 minute races. Yankee Jacks graciously opened their facilities to the race, serving beverages in the mugs donated by Point Brewery and Lee Beverage and creamed turkey over biscuits to all who entered. The race took place over a fast 1.25 mile course, that included running through a sand trap, riding the pine tree Tunnel of Doom and jumping over the Ditch of Death. Melissa and Logan Tietz even decorated one of the pine trees in the field. With the finish right in front of Yankee Jack's, fans on the deck and in the dining room had a terrific view of nearly the entire course. All of the races were hotly contested and pretty much everyone stayed around for the drawing of the door prizes donated by Eau Claire Bike and Sport and Spring Street Sports of Chippewa Falls. A big thanks to all of the volunteers, including Linda Slowiak, Ann Franke, Chris Magyar, Andrew Gierke, Sam Hughes, Tristan Bentzler, Matt Tietz, Bob Schwartz, Jeff Sorenson and Jim Blodgett.
