  • Decidely, most of foreign choir likes to perform this dirty french renaissance song in church while the lyrics told the story of a woman unfaithful to her husband.

  • Thanks for your comment. We think God knows what is happening in the world and we don't have to spare him of human issues in the churches. But it's a matter of sensitivity... and we realize that some people have strong feelings about it.

  • The following lyrics and english translation would enable everyone to appreciate and judge the good opportunity to sing such a song in a church.

  • « LA, La, La, JE NE L'OSE DIRE »

« LA, LA, LA, I DON'T DARE REPEAT IT »

    Pierre CERTON (ca 1515-1572)

  • La, la, la, je ne l’o, je ne l’o,

    Je ne l’ose dire,

La, la, la, je le vous diray,

Et la, la, la, je le vous diray

  • La, la, la, I don’t, I don’t, I don’t

    I don’t dare repeat it,

La, la, la, I’ll say it anyway

And la, la, la, I’ll say it anyway

  • Il est un homme en nos villes,

Qui de sa femme est jaloux,

Il n’est pas jaloux sans cause,

Mais il est cocu du tout,

Et la, la, la, je ne l’o, je ne l’o,

  • There is a man in our towns,

    Jealous from his wife.

    This isn’t without any reason,

Because he is a full cuckold man,

    La, la, la, I don’t, I don’t, I don’t, ....

  • Enfin las de ce supplice

    Le pauvre homme se pendit

    Mais sa femme par malice

    Chez Lucifer le suivit.

Et la, la ,la, je ne l'o, je ne l'o, ....

  • Finaly, weary by this torment,

The poor old chap hung himself,

    But his wife followed him,

    By malice at Lucifer’s home.

    __________________________

    La, la, la, I don’t, I don’t, I don’t .....

  • La morale de cette histoire,

    C’est qu’avant de se marier,

Il faut savoir le jour même,

    Que c’est pour l’éternité.

    _______________________

Et la, la, la, je ne l’o, je ne l’o, ....

  • The moral of this legend is that

    Before to be married

    You must

You must realize on the same day

It will be long for eternity

    ___________________________

La la la I don't dare repeat it
