Applying Math and Science in welding helps in understanding and solving welding problems.
Understanding why a MIG wire melts provides the reasons why a key variable, like the distance from the gun tip to the workpiece called "stickout", must be kept in close control
Understanding the magnitude of what variables cause changes penetration will show why increasing voltage, for example, actually causes it to decrease not increase! This will help in define what causes poor weld quality. Simple equations are provided to easily calculate these improtant parameters.
