2011 Ford Fiesta - NHTSA 35 mph Frontal Crash Test.

2011 Ford Fiesta -- Cute, fun, fuel efficient and proven the safest vehicle in the sub-compact category... "As for those Tank drivers, good luck finding a parking spot around here." ;)

Ford's PR mill was working overtime to put this one together as it is essentially a worldwide release covering four Continents and four completely different ratings agencies. The Ford Fiesta is now the first car in the B-Segment to earn top crash test ratings in each of the world's largest auto markets that perform safety testing including the US' IIHS, Europe's Euro NCAP, Australia/New Zealand's ANCAP and now China's own C-NCAP.

A simple synopsis would be that the fuel efficient 2011 Ford Fiesta delivers top notch safety across the globe.

Testing agencies in the U.S., China, Europe and Australia/New Zealand rate the Ford Fiesta at the top of the list for crash ratings. Fiesta's latest maximum five-star safety rating was awarded by the China Automotive Technology and Research Center under the China New Car Assessment Program, or C-NCAP. This follows maximum five-star ratings in Europe and Australia/New Zealand.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta, the only car in the B-Segment to date to earn a Top Safety Pick from the U.S. Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) under its new test standards, continues to earn recognition in major global markets for its safety performance and rating in independent third-party testing.

The 2011 Ford Fiesta received 4 out of 5-Star Crash Test Rating from the NHTSA's new 2011 NCAP Crash Tests which are arguably the toughest in the world.

Ford's First Global Car Sales

The ratings are just a part of the Fiesta's global sales momentum. European sales of the latest-generation Ford Fiesta reached 1 million units just last month. The landmark was achieved only 28 months after the popular small car went on sale across Europe. In addition, the Fiesta has been the best-selling small car in Europe for the past two years.

In the U.S., the Fiesta is finally starting to attract new customers, including those in California. In 2010, Fiesta played a key role in helping Ford to achieve its highest retail share in California since 2006. LA continues to be the top-selling region for Ford's smallest car and the city is loaded with the hot little hatchbacks.

Safety by Design

Beneath Fiesta's smallish exterior is a structure crafted from engineered high-strength steels engineered designed to enhance driver and passenger safety. More than 55 percent of Fiesta's body structure is made from ultra-high-strength steel, and the extensive use of high-strength, lightweight boron steel helps protect critical occupant safety zones.

The Fiesta offers a standard driver's knee airbag, developed to help reduce lower-leg injuries in the event of a frontal collision.

The knee airbag joins a suite of Fiesta safety features that include dual-stage, first-row airbags, side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags.

"Smart" Passenger Occupant Detection System (PODS) sensors determine occupant weight and seat belt status to optimize deployment force. The Fiesta also features class-exclusive smart sensors that use pressure pulses from a side impact to deploy up to 30 percent faster than traditional airbags with acceleration-based sensors.

  • safest car in the world is the car that never crash

  • @wootness3000 besides that... the point to the car crumpling, in such a fast impact, weather it be 35 or 75, your still going to get hurt, to an extent... that extent, on the other hand depends what you did before the wreck if you slowed down, sped up, etc worst thing to do is freak out.

  • @wootness3000 well yeah, i understand that, i just got in a wreck two weeks ago, in a '90 Beretta (chevy) and because it was a rear end tbone, (to us) the airbags diddnt deploy. and i got a nice burn from the seatbelt but it doesnt matter

  • @Skye606 Seatbelts don't slow you down gradually.. they just stop you. As do airbags really.

  • @wootness3000 thats a good point but.. even still thats what Airbags andseatbelts are for.. ._.;

it still doesnt help the fact ...- er.. wtf why diddnt the windows shatter? (Note) if you tint your owndows, they wont shatter inwards... they'll shatter and be held together by the tinting, and pop out. :3

  • @Skye606 They can make cars that don't crumple at all, but YOU wouldn't be walking away since all of the deceleration would then be transferred onto you. That's why crumple zones were invented, to dissipate energy.

  • Lol Squishy... Wtf happened to more RELIABLE Frames? your not DRIVING That away D<

  • safest?? lol? 35mph instead of 40 mph (euroncap) and crash at whole length of the face instead of 40% of the length of the face ( euroncap)

bad bad bad !!! deslike from me ..
