A quick test in object-tracking I made with Syntheyes and 3ds Max.
Basically it allows you to follow an object in 3D space, and export this object's motion into your 3D program.

  • can you make tutorial for this??

  • @29041982 I'm planning to mate! Just a bit busy with work, personal stuff, etc. at the moment.

But i got quite a few reactions and questions asking how to do this, so making a decent tutorial to make such a shot is deffinatly on my to-do list ;)

  • That's awesome. May I ask how you managed to track the helmet coming off? I imagine all or almost all of the original track points (side/front/top) would be obscured by that point.

  • Well, I also had trackers on the back of the actual helmet I was wearing: you can see those on the last few frames of the first pass... (at 0:07)

And that's also why I grabbed the helmet from underneath: otherwise i'd have to mask and fit my hands with the CG-model etc...

I might make a little tutorial about object tracking - because I get a question about it every month or so... :)

Anyway's, thanks for your comment, stinky!
