I love my new Intel 510 ssd in my computer. My mac sometimes doesn't even use the windmill thing on start up. It just goes straight from the Apple to the log on screen. Everything on the computer is lightning fast. An ssd is the best investment you can make in upgrading a computer across the board.

Well since there are no moving parts, you're gonna save batteries as well.

Was there a problem with this MacBook at the time of the boot up? Because, that's about the time or less that my Dad's MacBook Pro Intel Core 2 duo takes to boot up.
500 bucks for six seconds?

Think about that multiplied over your entire day. That's just boot time. How about launching Adobe or Microsoft Office applications? What if you could leave work 1 or 2 hours early every day for $500?
We agree, it's not really cost-effective, mostly because of the disk space limitation, but the time will come when SSD is the standard and we'll wonder how we ever lived before it.
