-FROM WGME 13,
Same Sex Marriage Supporters Rally Against Tuesday's Election Results
In Portland, the outcome of this past Tuesday's election has left some with very raw emotions.

Activists who support same sex marriage filled the streets Friday night to speak out about the law being overturned by voters. Hundreds of people marched up Congress Street towards Monument Square, blocking traffic while carrying signs and shouting their discontent over the election results. The protesters say they understand they can't change the outcome of the election, but they say they hope their presence can change minds, even one at a time. Saying by making their voices loud, perhaps more Mainers will understand their views. The march started at Congress Square and ended at city hall. The group did not have permission to block traffic, but to our knowledge, no citations were issued.

  • HER EYES HER EYES, I TELL HER EVERYDAISY, WHEN I SEE YOUR FACE, THERE'S NOT A THING THAT I WOULD CHANGE!!!

  • @JavierCA2008 Oh okay, so it makes it okay for them to choose and not be allowed that choice of love? Doesn't sound like democracy, which we've been living in for quite a while. Why do you think people are in denial? Do you think they want to be that way? They wished to be straight at some point in their lives, and now they had to deal with the fact that they are gay. Religion shouldn't GOVERN. It's not a damn theocracy.

  • All this does is make gays look more ignorant then they are. There is no need to march though the streets screwing up traffic because what they wanted to win lost. This is the 3rd time Maine has voted on this issue, the results have all been the same. It is time for the gays to give up and stop complaining about how the law won't change to suit their desires. Gays have the same rights as any other citizen living in America. People choose to be gay, they sacrifice marriage when they choose that.

  • I would believe it except nobody has proven "gays" are born like that.

  • gays are open minded to people who use their brain and accept them for they are born gay

why dont you open your mind and realize that religion is a sham

  • I wish I wasn't stuck in upstate NY, I would have loved to have been there. Wish my absentee could have done more.

    Love from Ithaca, NY

  • i was at the march in spirit...i didn't know about it until too late, but this was amazing.

  • Thanks for compiling and for posting. This makes me cry just as much as it did while I was marching, but in a good way.
