A tiglon or tigon is a hybrid cross between a male tiger (Panthera tigris) and a lioness (Panthera leo), thus it has parents within the same genus but of different species. The tiglon is not currently as common as the converse hybrid, the liger; but, in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, tiglons were more common than ligers.

Tiglons can show characteristics of both parents: they can have both spots from the mother (lions carry genes for spots — lion cubs are spotted and some adults retain faint markings) and stripes from the father. Any mane that a male tiglon might have will appear shorter and less noticeable than a lion's mane and is closer in type to the ruff of a male tiger. It is a misconception that Tiglons are smaller than lions or tigers. They don't exceed the size of their parent species because they inherit growth-inhibitory genes from the lioness mother, but they do not exhibit any kind of dwarfism or miniaturisation; they often weigh around 400 lb.

Tigons are very rare. Ligers and tiglons can mate. Male tigons are sterils while females are usually fertile. Because only female tigons are fertile tiglons can't reproduce with each other. A female tigon was mated to a lion. Titigons result from a cross between a female tiglon and a male tiger. Such matings are possible in the wild because lions and tigers live in Asia.

The Exotic Feline Rescue Center (EFRC) in western Indiana rescues big cats and gives them a home for life.

They have 210 exotic felines and are one of the largest rescue centers in the United States for abused, unwanted and neglected exotic felines. They are the largest center open to the public. The cats are well cared for.

They have tigers lions leopards cougars bobcats ocelots servals lynx Asian leopard cat and a tigon. You can spend the night next to some of the cats and hear coyotes, turkeys, and deer.

Are they less intelligent, slower then other cats and would they even be able to
