  • ok, for answer to mrlco...

it's called, Karate Competition... More of child need motivation, and if you do all day long karate shotokan like 25 years ago... karate classes would be empty... i'm agree with you, karate it's a martial arts, but, at least with karate competition, young people keep busy with other things that Video games.

  • Mrlco FU** you, until you tell your grade and position inside the karate environment i will not tolerate crap like that.... kumite is a real form of fighting art and there is much more to it than "playing"... many of the kumite people out there all have 1.dan in they'r style and they know whats the difference between kumite and their martial art.... reconsider what you said for that was in a way, offensive.

  • @SkyewalkerL

I have seen and been on a karate practise of the national team of ****** and i totally agree i have been selected to practice whit the national team... and if I and a couple of other people out of several are picked we are to join a talent group-- well my point is that i have seen a couple of other "maybe in the talent group" people and i start to think what they thougt whn they choose them :p

  • @slimnotskinnytexan

It's not much more than a tag game nowadays. It's very commercial and just a game, a sport. It has got nothing to do with what karate actually is .. a martial art. It's meant to defend yourself with, hurt or kill someone. It's meant to develop your mind and body controle, your character.

I don't see any technique in these fights. It's a game, sure they can play it. But in my opinion it hasn't got much to do with skotokan karate anymore.

  • thats good fight

  • Anyone can join, but the chances for a white belt winning, or making it very far is small... But he could enter the tournament.

  • i appreciated the intelligent conversation. the foul-mouthed tirades some go on is not for me.

as much as i wish it wasn't true, i think you're right. politics does have much to do with the selection. i suppose if someone is flashy like a biamonti or agressive like aghayev, they are higher profile and will get a longer look for as a team selection.

but i also suppose that winning and winning and winning is the sure-fire way to get consideration. one cannot argue with repeated success, right?

  • wow this is taking for ever haha guess i got a lot to say

in short a totally agree with you

however (always got to be a however) in a day and age like this where everyone is doing everything they can to stand out well even those witha ntuaral skill and prfounding find it difficult to stand out

hahaha the whole thing was a just a joke

  • My statement above was only quoted from a mate from down at the AIS when they announced the names for some open and names were read out they then reread those who head eben selelcted for a greece competiotn all the same people or at least 98% of the ppl selected previously were there.

Yes those who truly stand out will stand out but right now especially with the divisions we are in its is very difficult to stand out. I am one but everyone is doing extra training weights etc. to stand out

  • yea i understand where your coming from and i agree wholly with you. However I am in the Australian National Team Selection Squad and all the oficials there have their favourites and there those who surpass us all yet go unnoticed but there are others whose skill level could be questioned yet they somehow maintain selection.
