Legendary UK drummer Lloyd Ryan, in the tradition of Buddy Rich, Louie Bellson, Gene Krupa, Joe Morello etc - performing in Croydon, July 2007. For more info on Lloyd Ryan, see his website - www.lloydryandrums.com
It's like watching a masterclass in techniques and power. I took a lesson with Lloyd a couple of years ago and he doubled my left hand volume in about 30 minutes and I'd been playing for 30 years ! My students love his visits - he's such a gifted educator.
though i am a bit shocked to see it took 9 minutes to hit a cymbol. (excluding 2 taps on the hi-hats at about the 5 min mark) but he really started cooking about the 3 min mark. i bin playing over 20 years and im not near as good as this guy. i might have to start practicing instead of jaming if i want to get near this level.
Llyod Ryan is the man behind Phil Collins and jamiroquai. I have had the honor to Sit under his teaching at Queen Caroline Street St Pauls in the mid 90s, bless him the man is a legend.
This man is an excellent drummer. This particular effort is an extended double stroke roll with accents and riffs. Well done for what it is. He is a much better drummer than wil ever be.
I gave you 5 stars. I used to sit in with a band 10 years ago, the drummer was retired and he played this song. He tore it up. Now, I can't say Lloyd doesnt't play it as well, or better, but I don't see sweat dripping. And, I think the intro, and the end of the song, need to be included to get the whole effect.
Good stuff! I love the "old school" drum solos. Few modern drummers can play like that today. Check out my clips on here if you want to see somehting similar (I have four clips which are much shorter). Keep playing!
