Poverty, corruption, unemployment rise in Kenya
Kenyas vulnerability to the global crisis is primarily due to inherent domestic factors such as years of poor infrastructure investment, rampant corruption, government profligacy, and the high cost of doing business in the region among a litany of ills hampering the countrys ability to mitigate the effects of the crisis. Poverty levels are also bound to rise as lack of employment continues to bite; thousands might also lose jobs as foreign firms contemplate of closing down due to the recession that has affected their operations. Those living in rural areas are the most affected as the country faces famine due to inadequate rainfall in the last 2 years since they solely depend on their farm products for upkeep.
