This is a consummate performance. It's amazing how she manages to portray deep-seated anguish & confusion and still make us laugh out loud. I also love that she takes a subtle & intelligent approach to playing a complete dunderhead. Comedy is something only truly talented actors can perform.
The writing is genius, too.

I completely agree, however, there is no writing. Jennifer's lines are all improvised, as well as all of the other actor's lines. Improvisational comedy films are the only films Christopher Guest makes. That being said, Jennifer's performance is that much more incredible and hilarious.
