This Burmese cat had been stuck up a tree all night and had kept the neighbours awake meowing loudly,so we had a go at rescuing it using a old holdall,it worked a treat.

  • Well youse sound very posh ;)

  • @thebakerman1

Haha alright. :') Those guys sound weird...

  • @Pesanteuse Actually I know that. I'm merely making a point here that not all cats are as smart as many people claim they are. The people I'm referring to would have us all believe that humans are on the lower end of the scale when it comes to brains. Although there are clearly exceptions to every species (people included), cats ain't all their cracked up to be when it comes to being the most intelligent animal on the block. Many cat freaks out there are the most biased people you'll ever meet.

  • @thebakerman1 The intelligence of the cat varies very much from cat to cat and on the race. We had a very clever abyssinian cat that learned to do all sorts of things on it's own, opening doors and use flush toilets for example. Now we have two burmese cats, one that has got stuck in a tree several times and one that never has. They have different traits. We had to give away the Abyssinian since that race doesn't go well with children. Burmese however are excellent with children.

  • @Pesanteuse So basically cats aren't as smart as some people like to tout them as.

    That's what I thought . . .

  • @thebakerman1

Usually when they get stuck in a tree, they have been chased up there by a dog or another cat. So it maybe goes too far up or are afraid that the dog or cat that chased them up there might be there. They of course can (and will) go down on their own, but some are more cowardly than others...

  • what is stronger a burmese or a siamese

  • @thebakerman1 well they go too far and then get afraid of moving down.. suppose it could happen to a human, too, to climp too far when "in the moment" - and then see the way back isn't all mellow..

  • @thebakerman1 it wanted to see the view. a dog couldnt even get up there. LOL it was crying!

  • If cats are so smart why do they do this?
