Board Track Class AMCA Race July 2011. GoPro camera mounted on my 1925 Excelsior Super-X handlebar. Great action up front of this very exciting race. You can look up other vids of this race from different angles.
Originally, in the teens and early twenties, these bikes would race on a wooden track made of 2x4s on edge, and banked turns. Throttles were locked on full, using the magneto kill button for speed control. Bikes had no clutches and were locked at direct-drive. Most of the chassis' were short-coupled for maneuverability.
These tracks are long gone, so now we celebrate them on the dirt tracks at Davenport, IA and Wauseon, OH.
Board Track Class consist of: pre-1928 motorcycles, skinny tires, turned-down or flat racing bars, NO BRAKES, single speed or lock into one gear only, rolling start.
No pathetic "Keep Your Motor Running" crappy song here, listen to the wonderful symphony notes of tuned pre-1928 racing motorcycles. So turn up the volume, and go to full screen.
The Best!
