Andrew Lloyd Webber's 60th Birthday celebration concert in Hyde Park, London - Sunday 14th September 2008
Hosted by John Barrowman
Musical Direction by Mike Dixon
Featuring BBC Concert Orchestra
"The Music Of The Night"
from The Phantom Of The Opera
sung by Rhydian
(COMPLETE video, apologies for bad film quality)
This is how Phantom should be sung. The guy who sang the POTO duet two songs prior did it Micheal style which I loathe, that screaming style of opera which drowns out his partner. This does the Colm style (Original Toronto run) that brings out the real power and emotion of Phantom. Phantom should always be sung with smouldering, barely restrained passion, not screaming in-your-face lust. It's for this reason I think Gerard Butler, while not the best, aqquited himself well.

Thanks so much for posting! I was at the front so it is good to be able to hear and see the perspective of people further back.
An outstanding performance from a guy with a truly exceptional voice! Wow!
