Considering the fact that your comment is 4 years old, this may have been mentioned many a time before, but I feel that 'Vernon God Little' is worthy of a quote. I was lucky enough to have an audience with the author a few months ago and, apparently, the number of 'fucks' in his Booker Prize winning novel equates with the number of soldiers which conquered the Aztek empire in the 16th century.
(I reserve the right to be mistaken, since it is New Year's Eve and I am very drunk.)

this entire album gives me the chills. I don't know how, or why, either.
This song is like if Radiohead was good.

I believe this song is about making the decision to follow Jesus. The Scripture says, "No man, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God" (Luke 9:62).
In my opinion, the overall context of the song is about destroying the works of sin in your life, and staying focused on Jesus to make you righteous.

Eh, I'm pretty sure this song is about the battle of troy, especially considering the content of a few of their other songs
I think this song is about Hernando Cortez and his troops of 500 Spanish soldiers. They conquered the Aztek empire in 16th century.
When Cortez arrived in Mexico, his first orders included burning the ships. There was no hesitation after that. They were going to win or die. The story is about ultimate commitment.

It's like the song is both cheery and sad at the same time, has the most unique feeling in it... amazing...
