1988 Pontiac Excitement 400 - Cope Crash

#68 Derrike Cope tries to start the demolition of the Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway a bit to early as he nails the wall so hard in turn 1 his bumper goes right through the wall.

During the short delay we see how the promoter convinced everyone to make Richmond what it is today.

So did they completley tear Richmond down and start all over or did they just remodel or did they move it????

i believe pretty much all of it got tore down except turn 3 and the grandstands in 4

I liked the Fairgrounds better than the new Richmond......

I think I read someplace that the backstretch was the only piece of the old track they kept.

It looks as if they still use turns 3 and 4 from the old layout.
