Wild Boar Spearing!

The first hog speared on the 2007 Texas hunt by my dad. What an adrenaline rush! He was the only one with a weapon, besides the guy with the backup rifle, who mysteriously disappeared when the pigs errupted from the brush.

i appreciate hunting. back to our roots and all that. not sure if i could stomach it though. do you not find it hard to kill an animal this way?

@ald0339 Not my favorite way to hunt (with dogs), but the spear is a very fast kill. I prefer to shoot them with a rifle.

What kind of dogs you use? Were some of those pits?

@houndman6 Yes, the catch dogs are pits. Some of the bay dogs are black mouth curs and the others are just mixes.

For survival yes but couldn't do that for sport as i like a quick clean kill. Survival though i'd beat it to death with a shovel to feed my family if need be.

@valstar1000 Eating soy doesn't actually lower testosterone levels, but does increase your estrogen levels over time due to the presence of phytoestrogens, which bind to estrogen receptors. Yea its not great to have high estrogen levels if you're a guy since you might, over time, develop enlarged breasts and possibly an enlarged prostate. But weighing it against famine, as well as the heart/health risks that eating meat brings, soy ain't so bad.

Also, radishes give you like 20 calories per cup.

I have done this type of hunting before and it was fun, but, frankly you could kill the pig with a pair of nail clippers when you have a pack of dogs involved, especially the catch pit bulls. I think at that point you could probably even put a sleeper hold on the pig, the dogs are going to kill them anyway, and before you say it yes they will. Now doing it without the dogs would be interesting to see. I know it would take a skilled spear chukar to do that.

@IIDASHII I think too many people worry about the population rising. I don't see why we don't try to make a space colony it could work.
