  • The first 20 Columbia 3 stooges comedies are the best in the series. Any REAL 3 stooges fan knows this. That was when they were the youngest and funniest. You guys are nuts and maybe you should stick to the Bowery Boys LOL Ha Ha. YOU guys are the REAL stooooogggggeeeessss. Do us a favor and don't fill the internet with lies.

What part of Restless Knights is so funny?

I think if Restless Knights was typical of The Three Stooges A-game, they would not have become so popular.

Thankfully they did far better than Restless Knights many times.

  • no jokes... ok. and this trend doesn't continue? You guys haven't seen a lot of 3 stooges have you

  • @freak999able

    I don’t know what you’re talking about.

Restless Knights stinks. Many other Stooge shorts totally DO NOT stink.

So I would say no, the trend is not consistent. That’s why we’re having fun reviewing the collection.

  • you guys are not going to make it very far into these 190 shorts if you are giving "restless knights" the lowest possible score. This kind of shlock became their trademark and there are dozens of shorts even worse than this. This being the first one should count for something - and come on! Give it some points just for having Curly in it! You'll miss him once you get to the Shemp years (if you get that far).

Listening to you guys makes me wonder if you even LIKE the stooges

  • @freak999able

I know there are dozens of awful Stooge films. Restless Knights is a perfect example of that. However, “This kind of shlock” is precisely what we’re weeding out. The point is there are also dozens of perfectly hilarious Stooge films that also qualify as good cinema in general.

    Shemp is awesome.

Just because we can admit that the stooge collection has some serious low points does not mean we don’t like The Three Stooges.

  • I don't see how you can argue how this film was good. I never enjoyed Restless Knights. The first time I saw it I was like, "Aww nice more of Curly!" But when I actually watched the short, it was horrible. This is honestly, out of the 97 Curly shorts, probably the bottom 5 of the Curly shorts. This is much worse than say something like The Yoke's on Me. If anyone finds this short remotely funnier than most others, they should go see 40 other great shorts.

  • Slapstick: 2

    Dialogue: 1

    Plot: 1

    Supporting Cast: 1

    Moe: 1, Larry: 1, Curly: 1

    Pretty Girls: 1

    I give it a 9.

  • It was an alright short, the only REAL memorable scene in the short was Walter Brennan's cameo in the beginning.

  • I admit Restless Knights is slow, one of the weaker Curly shorts, but like a lot of the very early ones, I don't think the writing is the problem so much as the pacing and direction. You guys knock Felix Adler, but he worked with the majority of great comedians of the 20's - 40's. He's far from the issue. Why does POP GOES THE EASEL, their next short, pick up the pace? Look at the directing credit, Del Lord. The first film when one of their three great directors joins the ranks.
