"Bombai Ka Baboo" or "Bambai Ka Babu" is a 1960 Indian Hindi film directed by Raj Khosla and written by Rajinder Singh Bedi. The film stars Dev Anand and Suchitra Sen in her rare appearance in Hindi cinema.

Except for the "Brother-Sister" angle, the plot of Bombai Ka Babu is copied from O'Henry's short story, A Double-Dyed Deceiver. The story of the movie is very similar to Amitabh Bachchan film Zameer.

With classic songs like 'Chal ri sajni, ab kya soche', by Mukesh, and 'Deewana mastana hua Dil' by Mohd. Rafi and Asha Bhosle, the film was a musical masterpiece, and is considered one of finest films music by S. D. Burman and lyrics by Majrooh Sultanpuri.

The tune of the song 'Dekhne mein bhola hai' was copied from song 'Eruvaka Sagaro Ranno Chinnananna' from Telugu Movie Rojulu Marayi.

The film diretcor Raj Khosla was also the film maker behind Dev Anand's suspenses like CID (1956) and Kaala Paani (1958).

  • @crazyoldsongs , sorry music by s d burman !

  • @crazyoldsongs - Thank you my dear friend for the very important comment. The word "incest" is in the description section and the whole description is copy/pasted from Wikipedia as it says at the bottom.

However, I will delete that part.

    Thank you.

  • @crazyoldsongs

i dont think that the story in any way is about incest because they are not actual brother sister in the movie , the fact which is known to dev . suchitra has feelings of a sister for dev as she did not know that dev was not her real brother . and on revelation ,suchitra does not accept him romantically and gets married to some other person .the use of the word ''incest '' is very offensive and totally misleading in this context and spoils a very very emotional upload .thnx

  • @crazyoldsongs

before going away to her inlaws after getting married , suchitra tells dev that she had come to know everything and that in trying to decieve others for money , he himself had been decieved . she tells him that all were happy in this deception as her parents had got their son , and he also had got what he had wanted . the movie ended with these word while dev has realisation on his face and steps into the house to continue to be the son of his new parents .[contd ]

  • @crazyoldsongs

[contd ] dev is advised by his inspector friend that it would be better if dev accepts himself as a family member and take care of suchitra's old parents as his own , who will break down on hearing the truth . this would also give him a house and a family and a respectable life to start again away from his criminal past . suchitra gets married and dev feels sorry for his deeds. [contd]

  • @crazyolds

[contd] the whole family is decieved theadev is the real son and suchitra welcomes dev as her long lost brother . but the deciever dev starts loving her without suchitra knowing the reality . in the end when suchitra's marriage is arranged to someone else and her jewellery looted by the other members of dev.s gang , he revolts and acknowledges his love for suchitra and saves her jewellery by risking his life . suchitra overhears this and comes to know the truth . [contd]

  • dear yuan this is not an incestual upload as has been commented by someone . i don't think our cinema of that period hinted at anything perverted like this . this attitude is just like watching the movie through a western cultural angle and everyone has their own interpretratations of the stories portrayed in the movies . in my view , as in the story , dev anand arrives at suchitra's house as her long lost brother who was killed and the only heir to her parents [contd]
