Apple scratter for 2010

Made some changes to the apple scratter. it jammed a bit too much and some bits of the pomace were too big so the changes should sort that and improve recovery which is what its all about.

If only I could practically freeze a ton of apples! Suggestions anyone on how to freeze a 1.5m cubed volume of apples?

Your video provided some great tips that my friend and I used when we constructed a similar machine. It's a bit more rough and ready than yours, but perhaps over time it will develop into something more refined. On the other hand it's got so much grunt we might not need the subleties you have to avoid jamming. Sadly I'm going to miss the making of the hydraulic press he's planning next, but I'll be sure to video it next time I'm down there.

I can't speak to the efficacy or advisability of freezing apples prior to pressing, I do foresee difficulties in handling 1.5 cu. m. of apples all in one lump but I can contribute that an average size chest freezer would easily hold that.

be sure to frees the hell out of the apples first then crush them in the hopper press it and you got one hell of a applejack!
