Made with Ruth Ander, Dockside Cranes was commissioned as part of Electric Pavilion in 2005. The resulting animated film is based on photographs from the Port of Bristol Authority archive.

We recorded interviews and created an edited narrative about working life on the cranes. Selected photos from the thousands available in the archive were then animated. The film has also been presented on the 90 Second Challenge website.

  • its a shame you didnt get any one who knew what they were saving about

  • Brilliant video, did you go to the heritage weekend last September when they had the old electric cranes in action demonstrating how they were used? There was also a play by actors re-creating scenes from the oldern day docks.
