i do hear they make a 6 speed with the 04-07 models. anyway the car was never disigned to hit top speeds.

my dad has a 2000 subaru impreza turbo. it had a stage one clutch, rebuilt gearbox and new de- cat exhaust. it needs 6 gears. 70 mph at 3000rpm...

Mine is an 02 RS and it really needs a 6 speed trany. I always find myself wanting to shift in a gear thats not there.

The best way of knowing is with the engine code. Stamped directly on the top of the block. For example, my 2007 Subaru Impreza 2.5i comes with an EJ253 motor. (170hp N/A) A 2007 WRX has an EJ255 (224hp Turbo), and the 2007 STi has an EJ257 (293hp Turbo). Find your engine code. If it has "20" in it, its 2.0. If it has "25" in it, its 2.5.
Its not always the most acurate way, but a good way to find out.
