A set of clips to (hopefully) try and show you how to play the various parts of 'Drag Racer' by the Doug Wood Band, the original theme to the snooker on the BBC, on Guitar. Yes, I know the sound isn't quite right, and I know my Guitar isn't quite in tune etc etc, but hopefully it's good enough to give you an idea of how I play it. Comments are welcome, as well as video replies with alternative ways of doing things...!

  • i enjoyed the tutorial very much but when you get to the solo....ish stuff one has to sorta work out where you are with strings and frets etc... it would have been better for you to do a complete walk through with the frets etc....other than that it was great thanks

  • the guitar sound seems to be coming accross to heavey id have said have it a tad less over driven

  • Great video Bob, especially for those new to guitar. Top tune, fun to play!

Have you seen the vid by the guy from the BBC doing this? It's impressive!

    All the best :)

  • Cheers Bob, check out the video on here of the guy from the BBC doing it... That's definitive! But this video is great!

  • excellent vid..... had me playin it in 10 min,, thanks bob

  • couldnt really hear it because of the amount of distortion

  • Thanks Axemanbob. Just an observation but the GMaj - DMaj - AMaj parts, I think are played as Bar Chords for the lead guitar. The rhythm plays the open chords. Also some of DMaj chords add the F# as the root note- not sure were exactly where in the body of the song but the end D: AMaj - DMaj - AMaj definitely adds the F#. Just doesn't sound right without it. Keep up the good work.

  • No idea what's going on from 6.43 to 6.50.

Also, I don't think it's helpful showing us this on a distorted electric guitar. Accoustic would have been better from the point of view of hearing the notes clearly.
