This is the 1958 transistorized version of the Mohawk Midgetape recorder. Retrochad's model uses an outboard audio
amplifier for playback. A 10.5 volt battery pack powers both the motor and electronics.

It uses a proprietary tape cartridge made of a heavy-gauge steel and uses standard 1/4" tape.
It will play 45 minutes on each side.

This particular machine was owned by Henry Banks, an Indianapolis 500 driver and USAC Executive.

It plays very weakly, and in a future video I will replace all the electrolytics and build a replica
battery.
