  • I like old stuff like that Barn, My brother lived on an old plantation and there was a barn there that was built of hand hewed logs and I found a few nails with a metal detector that appeared to be hand made by a blacksmith as well, the old barn and house is now gone and replaced with a modern day town home community...it is sad to see all the history being destroyed to make room for structures that won't last a quarter of the time...

  • Nice work. There is a regular fair-like demonstration of traditional hewing in most major states. German hewing, Japanese hewing... Hewing's not dead.

  • that really removes a lot of material, you'd have to have a pretty big log to end up with something large enough to use as timber when finished on all 4 sides
