Amateur install of car stereo ordered from www.crutchfield.com. It's a JVC KW-XR810 going into a 2005 Toyota Rav4. Since I didn't see much info when I was considering doing this, thought I would share.

  • For anyone who is curious - still love the radio, but the mic above the dash is apparently picking up road noise/vibration. Going to move it - thinking I'll try on the windshield pillar.

  • Well... Gf says its a little muddy. Not sure if it's the vibrations from road or, I read there was a firmware update that addressed bt quality. Might move and update and see what happens.

  • Thanks! Yeah, wished i had this for my car before I did it. Screwed up video a bit, forgot I had shot the "taking off the faceplate" bit and reshot it. Oh well, when I get paid to do this I'll do it right! :) Still loving the radio.

  • @thewarhasgoneaway1 I believe your vehicle holds a single DIN radio. DIN is just a size, the one above is double DIN. Don't take my word for it though.

  • I don't know nothing about car stereos mate, you think this one would fit on a chevy cobalt ls 2006? :)

  • Thanks a lot for the video and your efforts - it was something I was looking for to reference when I install my JVC in my Ford Escape. I am old school so I haven't done a radio install since the late 70's when all you had to do was an antennae hookup and some minor splicing but I am looking forward to it now that I have a reference video. Appreciate it.

  • good video..... helped put an african at ease about hooking up these new fangled systems last one put in played tapes. Hope the BT worked out found out mic placement is paramount, one guy even put it in the floabw ceiling byt the rear view. let us know how it works out.

  • BTW that was a cute kitty. :)
