Only part of the cathedral is in the Romanesque (Norman) style or architecture. The crypt dates from that era, but the re-built eastern end of the cathedral is later (c1200AD)and is in early Gothic. The nave (the western half of the building) is later still - 1400AD - and is in the Perpendicular style.

Yes, it's the architecture of Norman. Beautiful, isn't it? There is a lots of castels and abbeys. It's the city full of impredictable sights, too.

Becket, the archbishop of Canterbury and the most powerful religious figure in England, had angered Henry II, the King of England. In response to the king's question, Who will rid me of this turbulent priest, four knights entered Canterbury cathedral and slew Becket with swords.

Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England and forms part of a World Heritage Site. It is the Cathedral of the Anglican Archbishop of Canterbury, the Primate of All England and religious leader of the Church of England. As well as being the mother church of the Diocese of Canterbury in East Kent, it is the focus for the Anglican Communion.
