Kelly Menhennett "Small Town Syndrome" - Sing Out!

Kelly Menhennett wrote a song for the Sing Out Project for the 2009 Feast Festival. She worked with community participant Rachel Rivers, telling her story through the lyrics in 'Small Town Syndrome'.

Intravenously fed song from the womb, Kelly Menhennett was bound to grace us with her musical talent. Born to a singer mother and a 3rd generation grape growing father, both with an eclectic taste in music, Kelly officially began playing her first instrument, the violin, at the tender age of 4. As she grew she took a shine to guitar and discovered the joys of singing and songwriting. Kelly had great passion for music and the arts which she combined with her other passion of wine making, of which she persued and is now an accomplished and well respected winemaker. During this time whilst living back amongst the clean air and open skies her musical talents re-emerged from the shadows. Since her initial days performing at a local club, calling out meal orders in between songs, Kelly has gone on to perform at local and interstate venues and festivals and is slowly building a reputation as a delightful, unique and charismatic performer. Fusing folk, blues, jazz, soul and world music, she has been labelled as a singer songwriter of extraordinary talent, mixing the grit of an old blues/soul/folk singer with her relaxed, smoky vocals, creating tunes that when put together defy categorisation and sound uniquely Kelly.
