With the release of the tenth Tori Amos album, Abnormally Attracted To Sin (name taken from a line from Guys & Dolls), it felt like the right time for our second Tori Amos cover this year. This time the kids tackle "Gold Dust" from the classic album, Scarlet's Walk, and take it to a whole new place. This is one of my all-time favorite Tori songs (and one of my mom's too.) The kids do it incredible justice.

And of course to lighten the mood, at the end of the video we have Justin and Josh performing a rap -- totally making fun of me. As usual..... This has to be the most embarrassing promotional segment for the PS22 Chorus Bonnie Hunt Show appearance.....

  • "How did it go so Fast?

You'll say as we are looking back

    and then we'll understand

We held gold dust in our hands..."

These lyrics express perfectly, what these kids are going to feel whenever they're looking back at their time in the PS22 chorus.

  • allie actually said pretty much exactly what you said in the nightline interview last night.... :)

  • I actually LOVE watching them perform from their seats like show in this video - I find the kids a lot more free to express themselves than when they're standing in line. Do you find this?

  • DEFINITELY! :)

  • You know what? It bugged me at first. But after watching several of the videos, I have to agree with you. Sitting in their seats seems to encourage them to lose themselves in the song. They are so much fun to watch, as well as listen to. Lucky teacher. Lucky kids. By far, some of my favorite youtube videos!!

  • we love converts here. :) seriously, thanks!

  • i have your photograph.. and the sun on your face im frazing my frame.....

  • GREAT JOB ONCE AGAIN. wow Mr. B, you have some great kids there. Please make a cd, so people could buy. I love the Tori songs, I can't stop playing them and crying. I'm so gonna check out the other stuff not by Tori, but thank you for sharing this

  • I love how they changed the skipping school lyric :) So pretty, this song.

  • This is just... beyond beautiful. You should be truly proud of yourself for what you're doing for these kids.

  • I'm a social worker working with teens who did not have a Mr. B growing up. My clients have internalized the anger and fear we have used to disenfranchise them. It's heartbreaking and sometimes overwhelms ME. Watching this video overwhelmed me but with HOPE. Bless all the Mr. B's that try to prevent hopelessness by providing a respectful and safe space for self-expression, kindness, exploration, vulnerability, celebration, art and yes, even failure. Bless PS 22!

  • wow..being a huge tori fan these videos are just amazing...you are all incredibly talented..i wish i had a music teacher this open minded to music like this growing up....

  • You rock...these videos are amaZING....seeing spontaneous expressions of joy as the music many meaning flow through the kids...gives me hope fro the human race. Congrats to the teachers...your hard work and desire to instill the gift of music to others will pay off all their lives.

  • this song has always been one of the tearjerkers for me, watching this video brought a whole new meaning to it. extraordinary...the passion and in the faces and voices of these kids is so inspiring.
