Thorn 1 Metre 38/40W Thorn Arrowslim Fluorescent Lighting Fitting

A new Thorn Arrowslim fluorescent fitting with switchstart control gear. It takes a rather uncommon 1050mm 38W or 40W fluorescent lamp and a 2-pin 155/500 starter switch or a suitable electronic alternative.

The 1050mm 40W fluorescent lamp is the most successful of several metric designs developed in the 1970s for use in modular and display fittings. In more recent years manufacturers have changed the rated wattage to 38W although the design and electrical properties of the lamp remain the same.

Something interesting to point out is that unlike the majority of today's 1" diameter or T8 lamps, the 1m 40W contains a pure argon filling with no krypton and is suitable for use with both switchstart and switchless start control gear.
