Gianmarco Zignago, aka Gianmarco; (nominated for a Latin Grammy) sing the beautiful Peruvian waltz "El Plebeyo" ("The Plebeian"), " whose author Felipe Pinglo Alva (1899-1936), born in the Barrios Altos in Lima, Peru, and known as "The Immortal Bard", he was one of the greatest exponents of Peruvian folk music.
The images correspond to old Lima City, whose characters and streets were the main source of inspiration to Pinglo. "The Plebeian" was released in 1930 in the theater Alfonso XIII of Callao. The 80% of the buildings, squares and churches that you can see, still exist today.
"The Plebeian" is in Gianmarco's fourth album, "Señora, Cuéntame" ("Lady, tell me"), recorded in 1994. The album is a tribute to the folk song in which he shows, with his music, the appreciation that he has for Peruvian people feelings.
