Paul Oorts plays Minuet de Gruytter on a scheitholt built from recycled wood. The instrument was built by luthier Nicholas Blanton out of wood he reclaimed from a derelict piano. Read about the entire process in Dulcimer Players News, Volume 34 - number 4, and Volume 35 - number 1. www.dpnews.com

  • where did you get your instrument from? thanks for information

  • @dbadagna Praetorius wrote about the Scheitholt in 1619. He said: The right thumb is scratching over the strings. But most people used the feather of a goose. It's easier.

  • Beautiful. :)

Can you tell me what the VSL/scale length of this scheitholt is? (measured from nut to bridge)
