For those asking questions about this, yes the kid died, and the cop was disabled.

Brave officers, but they don't know what they are doing, at all!!! Where's the lifejackets and the down stream safety ropes??? Can't expect regular police officers to know river rescue.
This was an example video on a river rescue course i did some years ago, an example of how not to do it. Unfortunately the kid was never seen again.

the rescue rope shouldnt have been at 90 degrees to the flow of water, the rescue technique was incorrect and unfortunately someone lost their life. R.I.P
