While I must correct you, I love rats also, but wild rats DO indeed spread disease. It is very important you point out the differences between wild and domesticated rats.

@Baller2710 I've always had females, but really want a male. Both are very fun to keep but males tend to be more lazy and prefer to sleep on you, whereas females are like hyper 24/7.

@CBD1992 cage size is good but trouble with glass tanks is the don't ventilate we'll so the urine may be absorbing into the litter but not have a chance to dry out. What type of litter is she using sawdust,wood chips or cat litter?! Perhaps try something different also how often does she clean them out - should at least be weekly if not the whole tank identify the corner they use as the toilet and remove the litter clean the area and replace the litter. Hope that helps

@CBD1992 my rats never smelt - maybe you weren't cleaning yours out properly or regularly or you didnt have a big enough cage >!?

You don't have to convince me, i'm a big fan of pet rats. Only bad thing is that they do not get really old and that's absolutly heartbreaking everytime one dies. :(
