I presume you're talking about the difference between generic and name-brand drugs? Yes, you're 100% right, name brand drugs charge almost double for the same product. But keep in mind, they deserve it. They were the companies that spent millions upon millions of dollars researching and developing the product, getting them cleared through FDA and putting them to market. After their patent is up (5 years?), generics come in and take a huge profit off the work of others. Trust me, it's fair.

Oh come the fuck on. You know full well that name-brand pharmaceuticals are way over-priced, especially when you compare what other countries pay for the same exact drugs with what we have to pay. They're gouging the fuck out of us and you know it. You obviously have a problem with getting ripped off, as you feel that the 15-45% taxes we pay are unfair. Now simply apply that same logic to the pharmaceutical companies and you'll understand where Senator Dorgan is coming from.

He's talking about name-brand "luxury" prescriptions buddy. Don't be naive, if he could he'd set the prices for everything in the market. And be honest with yourself: Medicaid covers low income individuals and families. I'm not sure what kind of money you make, but I bet if you kept the 15-45% of the income tax the gov't takes from you, you'd be able to buy one of those fancy "Cadillac" plans. How but that's right, you don't understand the diff. between "insurance" and "health care."

A BMW is a luxury product. Good health should not be. Good health should be affordable for everyone, not just the wealthy. If you feel differently, that's fine. But be honest with yourself, and admit that you don't give a fuck if the lower classes die because health care is too expensive. Admit that you see nothing wrong with some patients living because they have more money, and some dying just because they couldn't manage to cough up $100k.
